The solution is available on all PABX and fax exchange lines including analogue, BRI and PRI.

ECN Solution Value Points

iConnect
iConnect is a preferred partner and top reseller of ECN’s Corporate Voice Solution having won the 2008 award for most minutes on the ECN Network. Our personalised service ethic promising efficiency and professionalism is a major differentiator for iConnect. Our technical expertise compliment those of ECN to provide a superior service on a reliable product.

Cost savings Opportunity
ECN have negotiated attractive wholesale termination rates with the incumbent national telephone networks and can provide our clients with top quality voice services at discounted prices on the full range of fixed line call types. As soon as our clients are connected, they immediately begin to see cost reductions in their monthly telephone bill.

Carrier Grade Voice Quality
ECN guarantee 99.73% uptime for voice services with automated failover in the event of equipment failure. The interconnects with the incumbent national telephone networks enable ECN to provide carrier grade voice quality on both the transmitting and receiving ends of a telephone call. This voice solution eliminates all the quality problems associated with conventional LCR solutions such as delay, signal loss, dropped calls etc.

Service at the Highest Level
We believe that the key to enhancing our client’s business is much more than just a cheap phone call. That is why we offer our clients a full portfolio of voice, data and mobile services. Whether the requirement is for voice or data or a converged communications solution, we can help. We have experts in each arena that can offer professional advice to ensure that our client’s telecommunications are running efficiently.

Helpful Customer Care
We provide efficient on-site installation and activation with minimal disruption to business operations and infrastructure. All installation activities are carefully planned and approved in advance and once our clients are connected, they dial as usual – the only modification is that their calls are routed via ECN. We will simplify your communications, serving as your single point of contact.

Informative Call Reporting
ECN’s on-line real-time telephone management system (TMS) will provide easy-to-understand information about telephone calls across the company. Configurable reports covering billing, invoicing, savings and diagnostics are available to the user via a 24x7 web interface. It is the perfect tool to help easily monitor and manage our client’s telephone costs.

Network Value Points

ECN operates a converged packet-based network that has been developed using a number of technologies including copper, fibre, cable, microwave and satellite. Access options range from leased lines to digital microwave to metro Ethernet. The objective being to provide our customers with a next-generation “one network many services approach” as opposed to a legacy TDM “one network one service” design.

Network Operations Center (NOC)
ECN has developed a state-of-the-art Network Operations Centre (NOC), which is capable of monitoring ECN’s national voice and data network. The NOC enables ECN to be more proactive in anticipating, localising and isolating problems. When problems occur the activities of front-line personnel are coordinated and despatched from a single control point based in Rosebank, Johannesburg. The NOC is also capable of providing an up to the minute, real-time visual summary of the status of the entire network.

Interconnect Agreements
ECN has signed certified and implemented bilateral interconnect agreements with Telkom, Vodacom, MTN and Cell C. In respect of the number of points of interconnect, it is worth noting that the further a call has to travel over Telkom’s network, the more ECN is required to pay away to Telkom. The only way to avoid or minimise these charges is by building out more deeply into Telkom’s network. ECN has historically focused a significant portion of its investment on interconnect, simply because of the clear economic returns this provides. Telkom has a network of 16 Digital Primary Switching Units (DPSU’s) countrywide at which VANS may interconnect. ECN has built out to Telkom’s DPSU’s in the major economic centers of Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town and has plans to interconnect to all 16 DPSU’s over the next 5 years.
